russian dreadlocks

Hi guys!
you know, we live in so distant northen country! but in spite of this fact, we're very bright, sunny and open-hearted. we have dready culture in our souls and look forward to share with you.
in Russia we have very special way of making dreadlocks. we just knit them, crochet, so that they look very tight. sometimes we use
extensions to make them longer.
so here we are!

aahh. there was a post a while ago asking about russian dread technique and i think most of us were stumped why they tended to look so neat.

how do you knit them?
are any of these pics you ?

I like how tidy crocheted dreads look on other people but I wouldn't want them on myself.
Nice selection of photography there too.

Would be interested to see how dreads started this way mature and age. Does the new growth look hugely different to the old or does it require a lot of maintenance for a uniform effect?

well, it depends on the type of your hair, the way your locks were done (more or less tight). we correct them, using the hook again.
I prefer most tidy look, so the locks are very often corrected and the new growth look alike.

I looooove the dreads in the third pic!
And I've always loved yours :] I recognize you from the pics that you've posted before on here. I've always kinda liked the messier locks a bit more, for myself.. .but these are making me wish my dreads were a bit neater!... or at least neater at the roots... but I don't know if my sectioning will allow for that.
Either way... thank you for posting these pictures. I had no idea that there was a unique method used in Russia. Very cool :)

Awsome!! (Looks into plane ticket to Russia...) I met a Japanese guy once who mimed that that was how he did his dreads - but they didn't look anywhere as neat as all those in the pics.

I've always loved the Russian dreadlock creation method. Especially the work with combining the natural hair with extensions. If I had a silky hair texture I would probably try it out.

All those dreads look so perfect? I actually dislike seeing pictures like that - it makes me *want* those, when i could end up with anything my hair wants to do!
